Our culture
People
We believe in creating an environment that is open, accepting and forward-thinking, ensuring that the talent of our people is nurtured and thrives.
To do this we are committed to providing an environment where an employee opinion, suggestion or idea is heard and openly discussed and where all employees are aware of issues affecting the business in a formal and timely manner.
Our established and long standing I&C Committee forum has been designed to regularly capture our people’s views, encouraging open feedback that contributes towards shaping our business agenda. We also run an annual Employee Survey which provides a structured assessment enabling us to monitor all our people’s views across all sites and disciplines.
We are committed to operating our business in a way that demands equality and encourages diversity, welcoming applicants who meet our skill and experience criteria in all areas of the business. IMI Cornelius is committed to the elimination of all discrimination and prejudice both in employment and in the provision of our services. Individual employees at all levels of the business have responsibility for the active and effective implementation of our Equal Opportunities Policy.
Part of our responsible business agenda focuses on protecting our people by developing a safe working environment in which to operate. We continuously monitor, evaluate and improve via the implementation of programmes such as 5S and our internal hazard awareness process ‘RALF’. Local accountability exists through site management supported by trained Health, Safety and Environmental coordinators.
Charitable contributions
Across the IMI community there are various fund raising events taking place to support the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Burns Unit. IMI Cornelius has contributed to this in a variety of ways during 2008 helping to raise a fantastic £20k. The business is committed to supporting the local community and has recently donated a number of milk fridges to a local Sheffield school, Watercliffe Meadow, following their renovation project. Assistant Head Teacher, Claire Bradley said, “without the support and sponsorship of local businesses we would not be able to provide for the needs of all our children”. IMI Cornelius is proud to be able to contribute to the needs of our local communities.
