Our future depends on developing, inspiring and enabling our employees and company initiatives invite employees to join in with the aim of developing skills and experience.  During 2008 a Lean Sigma programme introduced 20 employees, across a variety of disciplines to the working ethics of this philosophy.  A phenomenal response to this initiative was achieved. This gives us the encouragement and drive to continue these programmes knowing that our people are behind the business agenda and are positive about their development within the company.

A number of Lean Sigma projects were conducted throughout 2008 as a result of this programme with incredible results for the business. As importantly as the business outcomes this programme saw the integration of employees from all areas and disciplines, creating improved working relationships and a mutual understanding of roles, responsibilities and priorities.

Individual assessment

Through our personal performance and development programme (PPD) the opportunity to discuss your individual career objectives and training requirements alongside progressing your aspirations in the right direction are conducted annually. The PPD process has been aligned to give a real focus towards each employee’s level of contribution and satisfaction as well as the relationship with their line manager and the clarity of information and feedback that they receive. It is felt across the senior management team that we will get the best from our people by encouraging frank, honest and open discussion and encouraging employees to tell us where we can improve.
